about

This song was written sometime between 1999 and 2001. It was one of our odder songs, with the weird fake-jazz verses and the punk chorus. When we fired back up as a live outfit in 2008, we re-learned this song and added the new bridge parts, making the song much heavier than it was on the original Engage* basement demo. We retired this tune shortly after this recording session (April 2009), deciding that it just didn't work all that well.

lyrics

Yeah, you're on my mind, all the time
Honey, the things you do, they just ain't right
You say I'll never leave, but I just might
as it is you haunt me every single night

The way you move, you got something to hide
I think I'm finished with your endless lies
I'll cruise this river to the end of time
and sink my memories in bottles of wine

Girl, I hear your voice come morning sun
Tellin' all your friends of the evil you have done
A bobby-soxer monster with a silver smoking gun
knocking over liquor stores for a little fun

So good-bye honey, honey
This skiff-boat is all I need
Good luck without me, baby
My soul is finally free

Oh, it feels so right, without you hear
What took me so long to up and disappear?
...but I'll keep watch in case you're near
Oh, Satan, he got nothing baby, it's you I fear

This river flows from dream to dream
They'll drag the bottom for you and me

about

The Gingerdead Men Akron, Ohio

The Gingerdead Men (tGDM) were a bad-ass, rock’n roll band. They shunned trends and embraced complete creative freedom. They tought rock’n roll should be loud, to the point, and capable of shaking your pants and bobbing your head. Their lyrics told tall tales about the future, the past, monsters and more. Somehow, it worked. Well.

tGDM believed that massive amplification was ALWAYS the answer.
